Book Review | Gemina by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff

Title: Gemina
Author: Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff
Publication: October 18th 2016 by Knopf Books for Young Readers
Series: Illuminae Files #2
Pages: 608
Genre: YA Sci-Fi

Summary: Moving to a space station at the edge of the galaxy was always going to be the death of Hanna’s social life. Nobody said it might actually get her killed.

The sci-fi saga that began with the breakout bestseller Illuminae continues on board the Jump Station Heimdall, where two new characters will confront the next wave of the BeiTech assault.

Hanna is the station captain’s pampered daughter; Nik the reluctant member of a notorious crime family. But while the pair are struggling with the realities of life aboard the galaxy's most boring space station, little do they know that Kady Grant and the Hypatia are headed right toward Heimdall, carrying news of the Kerenza invasion.

When an elite BeiTech strike team invades the station, Hanna and Nik are thrown together to defend their home. But alien predators are picking off the station residents one by one, and a malfunction in the station's wormhole means the space-time continuum might be ripped in two before dinner. Soon Hanna and Nik aren’t just fighting for their own survival; the fate of everyone on the Hypatia—and possibly the known universe—is in their hands.

Okay.  What.  The.  FUCK.

I'm honestly so mind-blown right now I don't even know how to function.  GUYS.  THIS BOOK.  I thought Illuminae couldn't be topped, but this book totally lived up to my expectations.  There were so many times that I literally had to set the book down and process what had just happened.  There were times where I gasped out loud.  This book doesn't just have one big plot twist that you don't see coming it all-- it has multiple.  And it's INSANE.

If I had to come up with one word to describe how I feel about this book, it would definitely be impressed.  My new goal in life is to be as good at writing as Amie and Jay.  Also as funny because they are literally hilarious.  The complexity of the plot and world-building paired with the unique POV and great humor makes a seriously epic book.

100% recommend this series.  If you haven't read it yet and you like sci-fi, GO READ IT!!!  Seriously, it's a must-read.  Meaning you must read it.  Let me know if you have read it so we can scream together.
